On 26 / 27th August 2014 meeting of the Managing Directors of the secretariats of international river basin commissions took place in Wroclaw at the headquarters of the ICPO Secretariat. Representatives of HELCOM (Baltic Marine Environment Protection Commission - Helsinki Commission) and UNECE (United Nations Economic Commission for Europe) also took part in this meeting. Such meetings are organized every year at the headquarters of the selected Commission. This time it was the second meeting, which was organized by the ICPO. The first took place in 2005 in Wroc³aw.
On the first day of the meeting the participants exchanged information on Flood Directive implementation in the international river basin districts (mainly about flood risk management plans in the international river basins), different aspects of international cooperation within commissions, public participation when implementing EU Directives, as well as on problematic of nutrients emissions in the river basins.
On the second day our guests took a cruise on the Odra river in order to see one of the biggest flood protection investments in Poland – modernization of the Wroclaw Waterway System. The details of the investment were represented by the representative of RZGW )Regional Water Management Board) in Wroclaw – Mr. Dariusz Zuchora.
