International Oder River District

 

 

The delimitation of the International Oder River Basin District

 

Following the WFD regulations, the Contracting Parties, within which there lies the Oder river basin, namely the Czech Republic, the Republic of Poland and the Federal Republic of Germany, decided to create a common international river basin district. In the area of the Oder river basin, the mentioned countries will coordinate their actions and implement the tasks of the WFD.

These countries have agreed on the boundaries of the river basin. More complex arrangements related to the determination of river basin boundaries within the Szczecin Lagoon. Eventually the entire Szczecin Lagoon, including the 安ina Strait, was incorporated into the International Oder River Basin District.

The area of the Oder River Basin from the south borders with the International Danube River Basin District, from the south-west - with the International Elbe River Basin District, from the north-west – the Warnow-Peene River Basin District, and from the east - with the International Vistula River Basin District.

In determining the Odra River Basin District, there were also determined so called six working areas:
 

1. Upper Odra
from the source to the estuary of the Nysa K這dzka (including the Nysa K這dzka catchment)

2. Middle Odra
from the estuary of the Nysa K這dzka to the estuary of the Warta (without the Lusatian Neisse catchment)

3. Nysa ㄆ篡cka
from the source to the estuary of the Odra

4. Warta
from the source to the estuary of the Odra

5. Lower Odra
from the mouth of the Warta to the mouth of the Szczecin Lagoon

6. Szczecin Lagoon
including Strait 安ina
